Charlie Williams Begins Term as Chairman of Alabama Bankers Association

Citizens Bank & Trust is proud to announce that Charlie Williams, Chief Executive Officer, has begun his term as Chairman of the Alabama Bankers Association (ABA). Williams assumed the role during the Association's 2026 Annual Convention held in June.

The Alabama Bankers Association represents 116 banks across the state and serves as the voice of Alabama's banking industry through advocacy, education, and leadership.

Williams has more than 45 years of banking experience and has served as CEO of Citizens Bank & Trust since 2017. Under his leadership, the bank has expanded its presence while remaining committed to community banking and relationship-based service.

"Charlie Williams is an insightful banker who is focused and determined. He has led his bank through growth and expansion," said Alabama Bankers Association President and CEO Scott Latham. "He is a forward-thinking, humble leader who will serve as a tremendous chairman for the association. I am grateful for his willingness to serve, and I look forward to working with him this year."

Williams joined Citizens Bank & Trust in 2008 after serving in leadership roles with SouthTrust/Wachovia, Compass, and Southeast Bank.  He has also been actively involved in civic leadership throughout Marshall County.
