Citizens Bank & Trust reaches $211,500 total raised for Northeast Alabama FCA at Annual Charity Golf Tournament

Citizens Bank & Trust hosted its 6th Annual Citizens Charity Classic Golf Tournament on Monday, July 13, 2020. Held at Gunter’s Landing Golf Club, the tournament benefits Northeast Alabama Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), its beneficiary since the tournament’s inception.  This year’s proceeds amounted to $36,500 for FCA bringing the total donated over the last six years to $211,500.

“We’re thrilled with the success of this year’s tournament, especially under current circumstances, and with the opportunity to get out as an institution and support this worthy cause,” said Citizens Bank & Trust President/CEO Charlie Williams.  “With COVID-19 forcing us to postpone our event, like so many others, we didn’t know what to expect. What we did know was that golf was still being played since it’s an outdoor activity, FCA still needed our help, perhaps now more than ever, and we were willing to find a way to make it happen. While we aren’t surprised that our tournament gathered immense community support because we live in a great community, we are humbled that so many continued their support of our tournament and of FCA given the environment we’re all working through. It was another fun year and we are truly honored to have the opportunity to help this organization and their mission in a small way.”

The tournament was full with 51 four-man teams participating over two flights. Golfers were able to choose either a morning or afternoon tee time and enjoyed fellowship with other participants throughout the day.  Prize money was awarded to first, second, and third place winners in two flights in both the morning and afternoon tee times. Golfers also had the opportunity to win door prizes including a FireDisc Outdoor Grill with accessories, the grand prize.

“This year presented a few new challenges but we were ready to overcome and make it happen,” said Kasey Culbert, tournament manager and Marketing Officer at Citizens Bank & Trust. “We took precautions to protect everyone while also ensuring a good day on the course was had by all. At the end of the day, it’s about doing the right thing and the right thing to do was to forge ahead while keeping everyone safe and providing support for Northeast Alabama FCA, it’s that simple. We cannot thank our sponsors enough for their continued support in our 2020 charity tournament. It was truly a great day and just the jolt of fellowship I think we all needed.”
