Founded in 2003 and headquartered in Guntersville, Citizens Bank & Trust is honored to have had the opportunity to play a vital role in the growth and development of all the communities it serves. In just 15 short years Citizens Bank & Trust has grown to almost $480 million in assets, has eight full service locations in North Alabama, a loan production office, a mortgage department, and a wealth management division.

Citizens Bank & Trust first opened its doors with a small team and a dream to provide the community with a personalized banking experience. The Bank came through the recession strong and has grown to be the 23 rd largest in the state, accomplishing this through term growth, no acquisitions.

“When communities have a local bank, their economy does a lot better,” said Founder Mike Allred. “Decisions are made locally, money is loaned locally, and is then reinvested into that community.”

The Bank launched an Employee Volunteer Program last June. “Giving back is a deep part of the culture at our Bank, not only in the form of monetary donations, but also in the form of volunteer hours,” said President/CEO Charlie Williams.

Customers of Citizens Bank & Trust have enjoyed the ability to go in and meet with their loan officer in person or speak with a friendly face about their checking account for the past 15 years. When reflecting back on the first few days in business, Executive Vice President Stanley Patterson says one thing in particular stands out in his mind.

“There were a ton of unknowns out there, but I guess the most gratifying thing is how the community rallied around us," Patterson said.
