$40,000 Raised for Northeast Alabama FCA in Citizens Charity Classic

Citizens Bank & Trust raised $40,000 at its 8th Annual Citizens Charity Classic Golf Tournament on Monday, May 2, 2022. Held at Gunter’s Landing Golf Club, the tournament benefits Northeast Alabama Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), its beneficiary since the tournament’s inception.  This year’s proceeds brought the total donated over the last eight years to $290,000.

“This is such a significant event for our Bank that fits our mission so very well.   It takes each of our 134 employees to make this happen, with great contributions from those within the Bank and those that are participating more directly on site", said Charlie Williams, President and CEO of Citizens Bank & Trust.   "Each year, this event grows a little more, and we’re thankful for that. The proceeds provided the largest check we have ever written to the Northeast Alabama FCA at $40,000.   To think that in eight years we have played a role in the FCA's great calling with a total of $290,000 is a significant point of pride for Citizens Bank & Trust.   We are called to serve, and our staff has taken that call to heart.”

The Charity Classic hosted 54 four-man teams who participated over two flights. Golfers were able to choose either a morning or afternoon tee time and enjoyed fellowship with other participants throughout the day.  Prize money was awarded to first, second, and third place winners in two flights in both the morning and afternoon tee times. Golfers also had the opportunity to win door prizes including a grand prize of $500 cash. Farm Fresh Foods sponsored a Police & Fire Team from Albertville, Arab, Boaz, Guntersville, and the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office.

“It’s an honor to spend time planning this event. Yes, it’s a lot, but it is more than worth it”, said Kasey Culbert, tournament manager and Marketing Officer at Citizens Bank & Trust. “Seeing so many come together for this amazing and important cause is all we need. Our thanks goes to the great folks at FCA who do such great work for our kids and coaches. We would like to again thank our Platinum sponsor, Colormasters, in addition to all of our sponsors and golfers for their continued support in our 2022 charity tournament. It simply wouldn’t be a success without all of them.”

FCA and the Bank staff the tournament with over 40 volunteers who help make sure everyone eats well and has a good time. The 2023 Citizens Charity Classic is set for Monday, May 1, at Gunter’s Landing Golf Club.
