What’s your dream vacation?
Fly fishing in Patagonia

Do you have a favorite quote?
"If you laugh, you think, and you cry, that’s a full day. That’s a heck of a day. You do that seven days a week, you’re going to have something special” – Jim Valvano

If you had to eat one meal the rest of your life what would it be?
That's a tough one...I love food and I'm not picky. If I had to choose it would probably be low country boil with shrimp, crab, lobster, muscles, etc. etc.

Tell us a little about your family.
I have been happily married to Kristi Carter Wells for 15 years and am the father to two beautiful daughters – Latham (age 12) and Larkin (age 9). Kristi worked in the test kitchen at Southern Living in Birmingham for many years before I made her quit and move back home to be with me. She now wrangles kids. She also operates retail booths that specialize in gourmet food items in Cottage Collective in Huntsville and Bakers On Main in Guntersville. Latham is a rising seventh grader that loves to draw, roller skate, and cheer. Larkin in a rising fourth grader that loves puppies, ballet, and soccer.

Do you have a motto or personal mantra?
Stay humble.

What are three words that describe your values?
These are the things I hold dear: God, Family, Work.

What is something people would be surprised to know about you?
I swam with blacktip sharks and pigs on the same day.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I love playing with my kids, traveling, trout fishing, hiking, golfing, and watching Auburn football and basketball.

What do you enjoy most about your job?
I enjoy taking a complicated problem and making sense out of it.

What do you like most about working at Citizens?
There are so many things I like. I guess if I have to distill it down to one, then it would be just the day to day interactions with my co-workers. We have the best people anywhere.

What is your proudest moment at Citizens?
I can’t think of one particular moment. Overall, I am just very proud to tell people I work here, because I know this is a great place. I know the heart of our bank. I’m extremely proud of the reputation our bank has built over the years. Building and keeping a good reputation is the hardest thing a business can do.

What are three words that describe CBT?
Honest, Friendly, Caring

Our tagline is “Small Bank. Big Difference.” What does that mean to you?
To me that tagline means that our customers are more than just commodities. It also means that the bottom line is not the only line. There is so much more to this bank than making money. That’s why I’ve been here for 14 years. That’s why I would like to be here for 14 more.
