What do you value most about being part of the Citizens Bank & Trust team?

"It has been a privilege to serve on the Citizens Bank & Trust Board of Directors since the bank's founding in 2003. The relationships I’ve built with the board members, officers, and employees are invaluable, and I have great respect for their expertise, dedication, and professionalism."

How do you see Citizens Bank & Trust making a positive impact in the community?

"Citizens Bank & Trust is truly a community bank. We are committed to supporting our local economy and being actively involved in the communities we serve. The bank continues to be a great partner to many businesses and organizations in the area, which in turn helps our communities grow and thrive."

What unique perspective or experience do you bring to the board?

"Having spent my entire career in business, I understand the importance of relationships, sound decision-making, and long-term planning. These experiences have helped me contribute to the bank’s ongoing success."

How do you stay connected with the bank’s mission and core values in your role?

"The mission of Citizens Bank & Trust has remained the same since its inception—helping our customers and communities thrive. As a board member, I stay connected by engaging with leadership, supporting our employees, and keeping our community’s needs at the forefront."

What does "community banking" mean to you, and why is it important?

"Community banking is about relationships. We know our customers personally, and we work to provide them with the financial tools they need to succeed. Unlike big banks, we can make decisions locally that benefit our customers and our communities."

About Bob Hembree

Robert L. "Bob" Hembree, Jr. is a lifelong resident of Guntersville, Alabama, and has been a Citizens Bank & Trust Board Member since the bank's founding in 2003. A respected leader in both business and public service, Bob has spent much of his career in the automotive industry, running his family’s successful dealership. His extensive experience in business operations, finance, and customer service has given him valuable insight into economic development and the financial needs of local businesses.

In addition to his work in the private sector, Bob served as Mayor of Guntersville, where he worked closely with local businesses, city leaders, and residents to promote economic growth and community development. His deep ties to Guntersville and commitment to public service have reinforced his passion for supporting small businesses, strengthening the local economy, and enhancing the quality of life for area residents.

As a founding board member of Citizens Bank & Trust, Bob has played a key role in guiding the bank’s strategic direction and growth over the past 22 years. He remains dedicated to ensuring that CBT stays true to its mission of community-focused, relationship-driven banking while continuing to expand and innovate for future success.
